Yesterday, Sunday, 23 December 2012, the Police with its sister security agencies, arrested Hon. Kipoi Tony Nsubuga of Bubulo East constituency at 10:30 in Matimuku Guest House, Njala Village , Fortportal, Kabarole district, while he was holding a meeting with some Ugandan security officers and Congolese rebel officers. The Ugandan Officers and Congolese rebels were also arrested.read more
On our part, the police supported by other security agencies have increased visibility in form of foot patrols, motorized patrols, and general vigilance to prevent such violent crimes as armed attacks, including terrorism, house break-ins, and break-ins in vehicles, highway robberies, rape and defilement. On Friday, 14th of December, 2012, at around 9.00pm, Police got information that the Hon. Cerinah Nebanda, the Woman MP for Butaleja, had passed away in Mukwaya General Clinic, in the Nsambya suburb of Kampala City. Police immediately commenced investigations, the objective of which is to establish the cause, and circumstances leading to the death of the Hon. Nebanda. read more
As a general principle, and in the interests of transparency and professionalism, Police allowed representatives of families and other relevant parties to observe, and even seek second opinions, in certain matters under investigation. Should a person require extra samples for independent analysis, the procedure demands that such person obtains the samples from GAL, which would oversee the process, document it, and ensure that all scientific fine points are observed. In this instance, it is not clear what samples were in possession of the third parties, how they were obtained, and the conditions under which they were kept. read more
POLICE has launched the training of target shooting amongst private security firms faulting irregularities and unprofessionalism during recruitment. The Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Ibin Senkumbi said that, this training is to effect the handling of the gun by private guards while on duty and under attack by criminals.read more
